Client Site Training
Due to COVID-19, all Client Site Training are delivered online.
We deliver NVivo Training for your University or Organisation, as part of your Graduate School Training, Staff Development Training, or Research Project Team Training. We design a bespoke training for your staff or students.
We welcome an opportunity to explore how we can contribute to your Graduate School Training Programme. Please contact us to discuss this.
A two-day course is highly recommended, however, you can choose to go for one-day or half-day course. You could split a day or two days training into multiple half-days, whichever way works for you.
Please Note: The Mac version of NVivo is different from the Windows version, therefore we teach them separately.
As a result of students or delegates working from their own computers from home, some are using NVivo on Macs and others NVivo on Windows. The software is very different on the two platforms – Windows and Macs. Adding to these differences of platforms is three different versions of NVivo in use concurrently on each platform – versions 11, 12, and the newest. Thus, in a typical class there are six potential versions of the software. This makes teaching a class almost impossible. However, the three different versions on each platform are somewhat similar, therefore we can teach a class for Windows users and a separate class for Mac user.
For administrators, please kindly inform students or delegates to sign up for either a MAC class or WINDOWS class BUT NEVER a combined class. Joining a wrong class is not workable. We cannot manage the disappointment, the frustration, confusing in a combined class therefore we do not run a combined class of Mac and Windows users.
Here is how some universities go about managing the situation. They would advertise NVivo for Windows then keep a list of Mac users until they have sufficient numbers to run a separate class for them. Others for equity reason, provide half-day training for Windows users in the morning, and half-day training Mac users in the afternoon.
Complete Introduction to NVivo
This course is very comprehensive. It is designed for a complete beginner, as well as those who have used previous versions of the software, or are self-taught and want to upgrade their skill. This two-day course combines the introduction and the advanced courses.
Introduction to NVivo
This course covers all the basics to get started with NVivo. It is designed for a complete beginner, as well as those who have used previous versions of the software, or are self-taught and want to upgrade their skill.
Advance skills in NVivo
This course will improve participants’ data analysis skills. It is designed for those who are familiar with NVivo and want to explore the advanced features to enable them to analyse and visualise their data for reporting.
Literature Review using NVivo
- One-day – Literature Review with Framework Analysis Course Outline
- Half-day – Literature Review Course Outline
- Half-day – Framework Analysis Course Outline
This hands-on course will teach participants how to use NVivo for managing their literature sources, such as journal articles, e-books, policy documents, and website resources. Participants will learn to import literature sources directly or from reference management software such as EndNote, Mendeley, Zetoro, RefWorks into NVivo. They will be shown how to use NVivo’s powerful search functions for key words and phrases within their literature sources and code the finds into themes; critically review the literature to carry out comparative analysis.
They will also be shown how to carry out Framework Analysis study on a more structured data, such as policy documents. Here data is thoroughly read, described, interpreted and summarised into matrices.
Refresher for NVivo
- One-day Refresher Course Outline
- Half-day Refresher Part-1 Course Outline
- Half-day Refresher Part-2 Course Outline
The Refresher Course covers general introduction through to advanced skills in the latest version of NVivo. It is designed for those who are currently using older versions of NVivo software and want to take advantage of the improvements and advanced functions in the current version. The course is interactive and responsive to the needs of the class.
Research Team Project Training in NVivo
This training is designed for research teams. A team may consist of a number of researchers and coders from different geographical locations, working on the same project. This course will guide the team to set up a successful and a smooth-running project.
Teams will benefit greatly from the two-day course, as there is more time for the tutor to facilitate the project’s design, setup, and administration. However, if resources are tight, it can be cut down to one day, but this will remove some of the steps. We can discuss which steps must be covered.
Training Workbook & Certificate of Completion
Each participant receives an instructional workbook, a certificate of completion, after training support via phone, email and screen sharing.
