One-day and Half-day Inference Statistics With SPSS Courses
These one-day and half-day courses will help you to develop the skill and confidence to select the correct statistics to analyse your data and to draw informed statistical conclusions; to understand when and how to use a family of Chi-square test (compare groups frequencies) and a family of Ttest (compare means or median of two groups), 1-Way ANOVA -Analysis of Variance (compare means of multiple groups).
Small Class Size
To ensure that high quality and responsive learning support is given to each participant on our public courses, we only take a small class with a maximum of 9 participants. Therefore, it is important you register your interest early to secure a place.
Pre-requisite
Little knowledge of SPSS is desirable. Please see course details below for the course reminders.
Teaching Methods
The teaching method is mainly hands-on. It is supported by presentation, demonstration, discussions, questions and answers.
The tutor will provide participants screen sharing to give learning support.
Training Workbook
Each participant receives an instructional workbook.
Certificate of Completion & After Training Support
Each participant receives a certificate of completion and ongoing after training support via phone, email and screen sharing. Please ask for this after the training.
Course Outline
By the end of this section, you will be able to:
- Understand the assumptions of using parametric and non-parametric test.

- Perform the following tests, interpret and formally report the statistical findings:
- Pearson Chi square (n x n tables)
- Fisher Exact Test
- Risk and Odds Ratio
- Kappa Statistics
- One-Sample Ttest
- Two-independent sample Ttest
- Paired sample Ttest (before and after an intervention is applied)
- Mann Whitney U test, Wilcoxon paired test
- One-way ANOVA for comparing means of multiple subgroups.

- 1-Sample Ttest
- 2-independent sample Ttest
- Paired sample Ttest
Non-parametric test – the average of the two subgroups to the compared is based on the MEDIAN.
